Rusty Rust-eze is a supporting character in Cars and Cars 3.
Cars
"Rusty and his brother Dusty created a small empire out of their mother's garage in Boston. It's been over 15 years and their mother has watched their operation grow into a household name with factories all over the country. Rusty and Dusty's mother says she couldn't be more proud of her two boy's accomplishments, but hopes that their next big move will be to finally move out of her garage."[1]
Cars 3
Rusty returned in Cars 3 alongside his brother Dusty, though like the original, they play minor roles.[2] He and Dusty serve as McQueen's sponsor at the beginning of the film before handing ownership of Rust-Eze over to Sterling.
Due to the death of Rusty's voice actor Tom Magliozzi, Rusty speaks far less than Dusty in the film while all of his voice clips are archived recordings from his and Ray's radio show, Car Talk. He has only 8 lines in the film, being:
- "What about the car from Everett? Remember him?": When talking with Dusty to the Radiator Springs residents.
- "We're way ahead of you buddy!" (with Dusty): When McQueen says he needs to train like Jackson Storm
- "...Rust-Eze Racing Center!" (with Dusty): When he and Dusty announce to McQueen the new Rust-Eze Racing Center.
- "Yeah!": When McQueen questions the Rust-Eze Racing Center.
- "Nah, you start! Go ahead, go ahead!": When Dusty asks Rusty if he wants to tell McQueen how they sold Rust-Eze.
- "Oh, that's true.": When Dusty claims that they are not as young as they look.
- "Wow! That's good.": When Dusty says that they had a lot of great memories with McQueen.
- "Don't drive like my brother!": Right before they part ways with McQueen.
The rest of his dialogue consists of laughs and chuckles.
